Debian Package Search provides a single interface for different types of search including a full text search (apt-cache search) and searching by categories (debtags search). Debtags is a new approach for categorizing the Debian packages developed by Enrico Zini (see http://debtags.alioth.debian.org/ for more information).
The program is not meant to be a package managment tool like synaptic. This is far beyond its purpose.
It is not able to install a single package, but if you have found the package you
where searching for, you can simply type apt-get install packagename to install it.
For some more information consider taking a look at the programs help page.
Please tell me if you like or dislike the application by going to http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=13133 and vote with either good or bad.
Thanks!
Debian Package Search was accepted into the official Debian unstable and testing release. The most easy way to install the package is simply using apt-get install packagesearch.
If you like to do things manually download the .deb file from the
sourceforge download area
and install it via
dpkg -i packagesearch_filename.deb or your favourite package
manager.
Additional to the application you need the following packages.
The given packages are debian packages, I don't know if they are complete
but they might do.
You can fetch them by executing
apt-get install apt debtags libdebtags0 libtagcoll0 libqt3c102-mt kdelibs4 apt-file
If you want to compile the program from source download the sources and follow the instructions in the INSTALL file.
