About The Archiver |
The archiver is a front end to many archive programs, it is a window that displays a contents list. The contents list displays the objects found in the archive specified on the location bar.
The archiver allows you to create new archives and extract objects from existing archives.
The tool bar can be customized by going to Settings->Customize...
The location bar indicates which archive contents are being displayed on the contents list.
The write protect indicator displays whether the master
write protect is on
or off
.
If the indicator is
then it means
that no operations that would cause modifications would be
allowed. You can toggle the master write protect simply by clicking
on the indicator itself or going to Settings->Write Protect.
The progress bar indicates if the window is currently busy.
The status bar can display information about selected objects, the highlighted function, or the verbose progress of an operation.
The archiver uses various archive programs to create, view, add, and extract objects from the archives. Therefore the archive formats that are supported depend on the support for archive programs. The following are a list of supported archive programs:
.arj
)
.rar
)
.rpm
) viewing
only
.tar
)
.tar.Z
)
.tar.gz .tgz
)
.tar.bz2
)
.zip
)
You need to specify the location of each archive program by going to Settings->Options...->Programs
If you do not have a particular archive program then leave that value blank.
