IANA Functions - Information
Introduction
ICANN has performed the IANA functions according to an agreement with the United
States Department of Commerce since 9 February 2000. Prior to that time these
functions were performed by ICANN under the USC/ICANN TRANSITION AGREEMENT.
The information found in the documents below is provided with the goal of assisting
the Internet community to understand the processes that are currently followed
in processing requests for IANA functions. These functions include the following:
- Protocol Parameter Registrations and Assignments (to be
provided soon)
- Root Management (gTLDs and ccTLDs)
- Numbering Resources for the Regional Internet Registries (to be provided soon)
- Administration of the .int Registry (to be provided soon)
