 Linux: Installing the Web Tools Software 

Use

When you install the Web Tools software package, you install the Web Tools and the MaxDB Web Server.

Procedure when Using the rpm Package

 

       1.      Log onto your computer as the root user.

       2.      If an older version of the Web Tools is already installed on your server, stop the Web Server.

       3.      Copy the software package
maxdb-web-<os>-<arch>-<version>.rpm
to a local directory of your choice.

       4.      Install the Web Tools. To do this, enter the following command:
rpm –U maxdb-web-<os>-<arch>-<version>.rpm

Procedure when Using the tgz Package

...

       1.      Log onto your computer as the root user.

       2.      If an older version of the Web Tools is already installed on your server, stop the Web Server.

       3.      Copy the software package
maxdb-webtools-<os>-<arch>-<version>.tgz
to a local directory of your choice.

       4.      Install the Web Tools. To do this, enter the following command:
gzip -d maxdb-webtools-<os>-<arch>-<version>.tgz tar xf maxdb-webtools-<os>-<arch>-<version>.tar ./SDBINST

       5.      Follow the instructions provided by the installation program.

Result

The Web Tools and the Web Server have been installed in the directory <independent_program_path>/web.
