 Creating and Changing Data Sources on UNIX/Linux

Use

On the UNIX and Linux operating systems, data sources are stored system-specifically in the directory /etc/ in the file odbc.ini or user-specifically in the file ~/ .odbc.ini. To create data sources, edit the required file appropriately.

Procedure

...

       1.      Open an editor.

       2.      Open the required file.
Specify the name of the data source, the database server, and the database instance in accordance with the following structure:
You can also specify Options for Data Sources, if you want to change the system default values.

[<data_source_name>]
ServerDB=<database_name>
ServerNode=<name_of_database_server>
SQLMode=<INTERNAL|DB2|ANSI|ORACLE>
IsolationLevel=<Uncommitted|Committed|Repeatable|Serializable>
TraceFileName=<trace_file_path_and_name>

If you want to specify multiple data sources, repeat the group of specifications above in accordance with the number of data sources.

       3.      Save your entries.
Your entries become effective when the next ODBC connection is created.
