You want to set up the master component of a hot standby system.
You require a suitable memory management system and a cluster solution. For information about setting up the memory management system and the cluster configuration, see the documentation of your vendor.
· A database instance has been created and you have connected to this database instance in the Database Manager GUI.
· The database instance is in the OFFLINE operational state.
· The same version of the database software is installed on all computers of the hot standby system.
· All these computers are running.
· The X Server is running on all computers.
· The user who is setting up the hot standby system has administration rights on all computers.
In the Database Manager GUI, choose Instance ®Configuration ®Hot Standby.
Choose Next to start each of the required steps.

1. Choose Enable or Disable the Hot Standby System.
2. Choose Enable Hot Standby System. Under Official Node, enter the name of the database in the cluster system. Under Storage DLL, enter the name of the library through which the memory management system is addressed.
3. Choose Start.
You have set up the master component of the hot standby system.
