The following operational states exist for a database instance:
Operational State |
Meaning |
ONLINE |
The database instance has been started, and users can log on. |
STANDBY |
For standby instances in hot standby systems only. Standby instances cannot accept any connections. They are constantly in a restart state. |
ADMIN |
The database instance is only available for database administration work. |
OFFLINE |
The database instance is not running. |
To monitor or change the operational state of the database instance, use the Database Manager, or, in SAP systems, the Database Assistant of the CCMS.
