You can use database parameters to define various characteristics of a database instance. When you install the database software, a default configuration is stored. This configuration is basically fully functioning. If necessary, you can adjust the database parameters originally set to suit any specific requirements you may have.
Alternatively, you can use the configuration of another database instance already present on the host or the configuration from a complete data backup. Even after this you can still adjust the database parameters to suit your own requirements.
The database parameters are divided into the following groups:
· Support database parameters
Support parameters do not need to be and should not be changed for normal database operation. The setting of these database parameters requires a detailed knowledge of the database system, and should therefore only be carried out by the support team.
There
are special liveCache
parameters for liveCache
instances.
To display or change the database parameters, use the Database Manager or the Database Assistant in SAP systems.
