Table access using a B* tree is illustrated using the example of a DELETE statement.
The address table is defined by the column with the city primary key.
A DELETE statement is used to delete from the table an entry with the value Apach for the primary key field city.
If an entry is deleted from the table, gaps appear in the data section and in the position list of the leaf page in the B* tree. The database system closes these gaps and updates the position list to save storage space.
