You can back up and restore, and unload and load data with external backup tools and external backup media.
The database system supports the use of the following external backup tools:
· TSM (IBM/Tivoli)
· NetWorker (Legato)
· All backup tools that support Backint for MaxDB
· All backup tools that support Backint for Oracle
These include the following backup tools: ARCserve, Backup Express, dbBRZ for R/3, DBVAULT, DoroStore, EASY_BASE, EMC, EPOCH, FDR/UPSTREAM, HIBACK, HSMS-CL Backint, NetBackup, NetVault, NetWorker, Omniback, Seagate Backup, SESAM, Solstice Backup, Sys-Save, TIME NAVIGATOR for R/3, Tivoli
If you want to use a different backup tool, contact the support team.
Depending on the platform, it may also be possible to address TSM using the Backint for Oracle interface.

· Use the Database Manager to back up and restore the database instance. When defining the backup media, follow the naming convention. The backups created receive an external backup ID.
· To load or unload data, use the Loader and follow the procedure described in Unloading or Loading with External Backup Tools.
