 Database Session

To work with a database instance, send database requests, or manage the database instance, the user must first connect to the database instance with a user name and password and open a new database session.

If the user does not belong to a user group, then the specified user name is known as the current user. If the user does belong to a user group, the current user is the name of the user group.

A database session is either ended explicitly by the user, or implicitly when a timeout value has been exceeded.

Displaying Information About Database Sessions

You can display information on current database sessions with the Database Manager, or you can get this information from the appropriate system tables.

In SAP systems, you use the Database Assistant to display database information, or the liveCache Assistant for liveCache instances.
