 Connecting with the XUSER Entry

To use an XUSER entry to connect to a database instance, specify the option –U <user_key> [<options>] when you connect. <user_key> is the XUSER key.

The user key is case-sensitive.

Also note that the connection can only be made successfully if the user saved in the specified XUSER entry has actually been created.

If you specify additional options, then these options override the corresponding data in the XUSER entry.

Various applications of the database system support the XUSER program, and give you the option of connecting to the program from the application itself and using the XUSER key.

·        If you use SQL applications (such as the Precompiler) to connect to XUSER, and you do not specify an XUSER key, then the connection is made with the user data saved under the key name DEFAULT.

·        If you use the Database Manager to connect to XUSER, and you do not specify an XUSER key, then the connection is made with the user data saved under the key name DBMUSR.
