You can choose from two operating modes when you call the Loader with the Loader CLI. The modes are activated implicitly by the way in which the Loader CLI is called.
·
Background
or script mode(specify the option -b)
The required commands and SQL
statements must be stored in a command
file. When you call the Loader, you must specify the
command file with the option –b
<command_file>.
·
Interactive or session mode (do not specify the option
-b)
The Loader CLI runs in interactive mode if you do not specify the
command file option -b when you call the Loader
CLI.
In this case, you
can enter commands and SQL statements in the command line after you start the
Loader CLI.
If you enter a
Loader command that runs over more than one line, and you end one of these
lines with a forward slash (‘/’), then the Loader CLI recognizes
that the command is not yet complete. This stops the command from
being executed when you enter the line.
Only when you enter
a line without preceding it with a forward slash does the Loader CLI recognize
that the command is complete. It then sends the command to the
Loader Server, which executes it. After all the commands and SQL
statements have been executed, the Loader CLI displays a message.
To exit interactive
mode, enter release or exit.
