       1.      Select the database software package that is appropriate for your installation profile and operating system architecture.

If you want to install or update an individual software component only, then select an installation profile that contains this software component.

Installation from the SAP Service Marketplace (service.sap.com, for SAP customers only)

¡        For the OLTP database instance type, choose

For the 32 bit version
SAP Software
® Download ® SAP Support Packages & Patches ® MaxDB ® MaxDB OLTP ® MaxDB <version> OLTP ® <os> ®
MAXDB<version>_<build>-<GUID>.SAR

For the 64 bit version
SAP Software
® Download ® SAP Support Packages & Patches ® MaxDB ® MaxDB OLTP 64-BIT ® MaxDB <version> OLTP ® <os> ®
MAXDB <version>_<build>-<GUID>.SAR

¡        For liveCache database instance type (SAP APO system), choose
SAP Software
® Download ® SAP Support Packages & Patches ® SAP APO ® SAP APO <apo_version> ® Binary Patches ® APO LC<version>/LCAPPS<apo_version> ® <os> ®
LC<version>A<apo_version>_<apo_build>-<GUID>.SAR

Installation from http://www.sapdb.org

¡        OLTP instance type only
Go to Software, choose your operating system, and follow the instructions for downloading the software package
maxdb-<inst_profile>-win-<32|64>bit-<arch>-<version>_<build>.zip

       2.      Copy the software package to a local directory of your choice.

       3.      Unpack

¡        a sar package with the program SAPCAR

¡        a zip package with the program Winzip

to a local directory of your choice.

Result

The system creates the following subdirectories in the local directory

·        for OLTP software, the subdirectory
maxdb-<inst_profile>-win-<32|64>bit-<arch>-<version>

·        for SAP liveCache software, the subdirectory
apo<apo_version>_livecache-win-<32|64>bit-<arch>-<version>

and saves the software to them.
