You can use the Database Manager GUI to display and change the database parameters of the current database instance. You can do this in any operational state of the database instance.
The changes are stored in the parameter file but only become effective after the database has been restarted (see Starting the Database Instance (Restart)).
1. Choose Instance ® Configuration ® Parameters. The system displays the general database parameters (General).
2. If you also want to display the special and support database parameters, choose Actions ® Show Extended and Support Parameters.
3. Select the database parameters you want.

4. Choose Action ®Properties.
5. Enter the new value of the database parameter under New Value.
6. Save your entries.
The new value of the database parameter is stored in the internal data structures and becomes effective when the database instance is next restarted.
