When you install the Web Tools, you also install a database-based WebDAV service. A MaxDB database instance is used to store all WebDAV-related data, including the Web resources. Stored XML documents can be indexed; the SAP DB WebDAV GUI provides a range of easy to use functions for handling documents and the indexing service.
Before you can use the WebDAV service, you must set up the connection to the required database instance.
...
1. Start the database instance with the Database Manager.
2. Start the Web Server.
3. Call the administration tool for the Web Tools (see Calling the Web Tools).
4. Choose Session Pools ® WebDAV.
5. Specify the following parameters: the name of the database instance, the name of the host on which the database instance is installed, the name of the database system administrator (SYSDBA user) and his or her password.
6. If desired, adjust the size of the Pool Size value. This specifies the maximum number of parallel database sessions that the WebDAV service can use.
7. Choose Services ® WebDAV and then Reload Service. The WebDAV service is restarted.
The WebDAV service is now set up with the database connection. The WebDAV server is automatically started every time the Web Server is started.
If you want to use the options for indexing XML documents, you must now configure the index engine.
