 Opening a Database Session 

Use

You open a session with the database instance as a database user in which you can transfer both administrative commands and SQL statements to the database instance.

The database session is linked with a user task of the database instance.

You can specify the user to be logged on by entering <user_name>,<password> or the user type <user-type>. If you do not specify a database user, the first DBM operator registered on the database server will be logged on.

Prerequisites

You have the server authorizations required to execute the commands and statements.

You are working in script mode or session mode.

Syntax

db_connect [<user_name>,<password> | user-type=<value>]

<value> ::= DBM | DBA | DOMAIN | SAP

<user_type>

Explanation

DBM

first DBM operator

DBA

database administrator

DOMAIN

DOMAIN user

SAP

Special database user in connection with SAP applications

Log on to the database instance myDB in session mode as the database user SAPR3

dbmcli –d myDB –u DBM,DBM

dbmcli on myDB> db_connect SAPR3,SAP

OK
