Creating Multiple Archives of the Version Files

Use

You archive the original version files for log backups more than once on to different external backup media. You can also use different external backup tools to do this.

Exactly the same version files are processed as were copied to the first external backup medium using the command to archive the version files once, which must be executed once.

The command for archiving the version files to external backup media is supported from database version 7.04.03.

It can be executed only in the same session as the DBM server, just like the command for archiving the version files once, which must be executed first (Opening a DBM Server Session).

Prerequisites

Your database instance has at least Version 7.04.03.

You have the DBM operator authorization Backup.

You have first executed the command to archive the version files once, specifying the KEEPoption.

The external backup media are defined for the backup type LOG (Defining or Changing a Backup Medium).

Syntax

archive_stage_repeat <ext_backup_medium> [VERIFY | NOVERIFY] [REMOVE | KEEP]

<ext_backup_medium>

Name of the external backup medium

VERIFY

System default value

The archived files are compared with the original files.

NOVERIFY

Only the usual checks as to whether the backup was successful are performed by the system. The system displays error messages and the output of the backup tools.

REMOVE

System default value

The original files are deleted after they have been successfully archived to the external backup medium.

KEEP

The original files are archived, but not then deleted.

Multiple archiving of the original version files 1 and 3-10
These are on the backup medium LOGMEDIUM, and are first archived to the external backup medium EXTMEDIUM_1 and then to the medium EXTMEDIUM_2. Only the usual system checks are to be performed. The version files are not then to be deleted.
