 Activating an Event 

Use

You activate an event. In accordance with the set parameters, you can display messages about the occurrence of the activated events in the Database Manager CLI using the commands for waiting for an event.

Prerequisites

You have the server authorization DBInfoRead.

Syntax

event_set <event_name> [<priority>] [[<value1>] <value2>]

event_name

Description of the event

priority

Priority of the event
NIL:           No priority defined
MEDIUM:     Medium priority
HIGH:         High priority

value

Additional value whose meaning depends on the event

 

Reply

The system displays an OK message.

Example

Call the Database Manager CLI, log on to the database instance HOTELDB as the operator DBM with password DBM, open a utility session (without specifying the user and therefore with the stored default first DBM operator), activate the event BACKUP_PAGES with the value 1000.

dbmcli -d HOTELDB -u DBM,DBM –uUTL -c event_set BACKUP_PAGES 1000

Result:

OK

From now on, during the current backup process, the database instance will generate a message after every thousand pages that are backed up.
