Connecting to the DBM Server of a Specific Software Version

Use

To create a new database instance, you need to set up a connection between the Database Manager and the DBM Server. The DBM Server must have the software version for which you want to create this new database instance. To set up the connection, you use the Java method DBM.dbrootDBM.

This procedure corresponds to the procedure for logging on to the Database Manager with the option –R.
(
dbmcli -n <database_server> -R <dependent_path>).

Enter dbmcli inst_enum in the command line to display the paths and version numbers of the software versions installed on your computer.

Prerequisites

To execute the DBM command that creates a database instance, you need the rights of an operating system user for the computer on which you want to create the database instance.

To create a database instance on a remote computer with Microsoft Windows, you also need administration rights for the database computer, as well as the right log on as batch job. For information about the administration of operating system users, see your operating system documentation.
