 Host Variables

Host variables are variables that are used in embedded SQL statements to exchange values between the application program and the database instance .

Observe the following points when you use host variables:

·        Declare the host variables in the declare section. When you do this you can use data types predefined by the precompiler, as well as C/C++ basic data types.

·        Observe the conventions for host variables. You can also use structures and arrays in host variables. You can generate structure definitions from database tables and database procedures.
