By importing backups from a backup medium, you can restore a database instance after a crash or an error, or restore it to a previous state.
Usually, a complete data backup is imported first, and then, if necessary, additional incremental data backups and log backups from the backup history. You can import data backups from a group of parallel backup media to reduce the restore time.
When you restore data, any existing log entries may also be read from the log area. In certain circumstances, you may therefore need to initialize the database instance before restoring the data. This then forces the deletion of the log entries in the log area. You can then import the required backups.
Use the Database Manager to perform the restore.

You may also then have to restore indexes.
