 Executing a Database Statement 

Use

You transfer the specified administration command or SQL statement to the database instance.

When you enter a SELECT statement, the system displays the results. The system outputs an OK message for other statements.

Prerequisites

You have the server authorization AccessAdmin or AccessSQL.

You have opened a database session. (See: Opening a Database Session)

Syntax

db_execute <statement>

Reply

After executing an administration command, the system displays an OK message, or the specific reply for the administration command.

If an error occurs, an error message number is displayed.

After successfully executing an SQL statement, the following is displayed:

OK<NL>
END|CONTINUE)<NL>
<record><NL>
<record><NL>

The fields in an answer record are separated by semicolons.

Character strings are displayed in single quotation marks.
